As many of you know, I am a huge ambassador for not only #WearCanadaProud design but also supporting the amazing talent we have in our country. Every year I wait in anticipation for the CAFA Awards to take place, who would not be excited to get together Toronto’s most fashionable and talented individuals and celebrate one another? This year is a special year for the CAFA Awards as it marks their fifth year of applauding Canada’s contribution to the fashion industry.

The CAFA Awards is hosted at the beautiful Royal York Hotel in the heart of Toronto. When I arrived, the venue was buzzing with double kisses, the click of stilettos and the ruffling of sequins. It’s so inspiring to see who everyone is wearing, I love to just step back after walking the red carpet and admire everyone's looks for this fantastic evening.

To commemorate the 5th Anniversary of The Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards, a one of a kind series of images was created, titled XPOSED. Described as a “one-of-a-kind collaborative fashion photography exhibition that captures and interprets contemporary Canadian culture evoking a sense of disruption that dominates our era.” Under the fashion direction of George Antonopoulos and chaired by global fashion icon Ladyfag, the inaugural photography exhibit The Disruptors Series, featured subject matters who innovate culture through distinct creativity and inspiring global style. The Series was comprised of 10 iconic images featuring distinct Canadian influencers who personify disruption and innovation in the context of fashion. I was so honored to be apart of this series next to one of my favorite Canadian nightlife goddesses, Lady Fag.

This Season of CAFA, I wore a creation of my dear friend and designer Izzy Camilleri. Before the CAFA Awards we went into her archives and pulled out one of my favorite pieces, a gorgeous dress made entirely of chain. We paired this piece with one of her adaptable IZ studded leather jackets and a delicate lace top and gloves. To complete this look I wore a pair of John Fluevog heel-less shoes & hair by celebrity stylist Cindy Duplantis.

From the red carpet to the delicious dinner and a vibrant after party, it’s safe to say the CAFA Awards were another huge success. I am so grateful that we have the CAFA Awards because it showcases and celebrates all the hard work we do every single day. It recognizes that our fashion industry is just as large as our country and allows us to elevate what we do on an international scale. Thank you Vicky Milner, Brittney Kuczynski, and the entire CAFA team for all your hard work and dedication for putting on this impactful evening. Now I’m left with only one thought …. What will I wear next season?
