Owen Sound - Ontario

I think by now you all must know I have a mild obsession with waterfalls. There is something rooted so deep in my soul that just comes alive when I stand before their presence. During my post-holiday getaway up north at the Bruce Peninsula, my best friend Krista and I stopped in this super cute town called Owen Sound for just a few nights. What is super convenient about this town is the variety of waterfalls it holds.

What use to be a big port town for Ontario, Owen Sound is now becoming an up and coming area to live in. I was charmed during my stay with all the local markets, restaurants and boutiques. We found this amazing Airbnb that was a wicked artistic-styled loft. From the claw foot bathtub to the amazing selections of chachki decorating the entire space – I was in love!

After settling in the loft we set out for a hike to discover Jones Falls. Our laughter definitely scared off any wildlife in the surrounding area as we made our way to the bottom of the falls. In order to get to the base of the falls you need to climb between two cliffs which honestly is a lot of fun but also can turn into a bit of a slip n’ slide if you are not in the proper footwear. Once we arrived the falls were beyond gorgeous and completely decorated with ice sickles.

On the last day of our road trip, we made our way through this picturesque little forest that was perfectly dusted in fluffy snow from the fall that morning. At the end of the trail, we reached Indian Falls which was quite the sight for your eyes. Standing 50 feet tall the power of the water coming down over the cliffs edge was just magical. I cannot wait until I can go back to Owen Sound again – hopefully in the spring. There are a few more waterfalls I am dying to hike and discover out there!
